Dexterity is a Pokémon ROM editor. Load up Red, Blue, Gold, Silver or Crystal, mess with pretty much everything you run into, and save a fresh copy to play.

Stuff you can mess with

  • Starters: swap the three Pokémon the professor hands out, and their levels.
  • Trainers: rebuild anyone’s team. Yes, your rival too.
  • Characters: rename people, and everyone else calls them by the new name.
  • Wild Pokémon: pick what jumps out of the grass, caves and water.
  • Marts: restock every shop with whatever you want.
  • Pokédex and moves: tweak the Pokémon and who gets to learn what.

How it works

It all runs in your browser, so your ROM never leaves your computer. Hit “Save ROM” and you get a new file with “(edited)” on the end; your original stays untouched. Want to keep going later? Just open the edited file again.

What you need

Your own copy of the game: a US .gb or .gbc file. We don’t hand out ROMs, so bring your own.
